For parents and carers
What is public, and what is not.
Wildspire is a place for young people to invent characters, work out stories and tell them — as novels, short stories, comics or cartoons. Here is exactly how it handles who your child is.
Everything is published under a pen name
When your child makes an account they choose a pen name, and that is the only name the site ever shows. Their real name and email address are stored so the account can be recovered, and no page on the site can display either — not as a policy somebody follows, but because the code that renders a page cannot reach them.
The sign-up form refuses pen names containing a birth year, an email address or a phone number.
What we ask for
An email address to sign in with, and optionally a grown-up’s email. If your child is under 12 we ask that a parent or carer’s address is used.
Nothing is public until they choose
A story stays private while it is being written. It appears on the shelf only when your child marks it ready to read, and they can take it back off at any time.
What is still being built
We would rather tell you what is missing than let you assume. Moderation of published work is not automated yet, there is no way for children to message each other — deliberately — and the comic and cartoon tools are not finished. This page will change as those do.
