Wildspire
Keeping young writers safe
This page is an outline, not the finished document. It sets out the sections this policy needs and the questions each one has to answer. It is not legal advice and it is not yet in force. The page is noindex until the real text replaces it.
How the site is built so that a child cannot publish the things that would identify them — and what to do if something is wrong.
Pen names are structural
Not a rule that children are asked to follow, but the only name the software is able to render. Explain that, because it is the thing that makes the rest work.
What we check
Uploads, pen names and story text: what is checked automatically, what a person looks at, and when.
Reporting something
A route that works without an account, answers within a stated time, and does not require the reporter to explain themselves first.
Contact between writers
Whether there is any, and if so what shape it takes. If there is none, say so — it is the safest sentence on this page.
Who to tell outside Wildspire
The NSPCC, CEOP and the police, with the numbers, for anything that is not ours to handle.
Who to ask in the meantime
Until this is written, anything on this page is best asked about directly — see contact. Parents and carers may also want what is public, and what is not, which describes how the site actually behaves today.
